COAL
Coal is a combustible sedimentary rock, formed as rock strata from mostly carbon atoms. Coal is produced when dead plant matter decays into peat, which is then converted to coal over millions of years by the heat and pressure of deep burial.
The energy density of coal is roughly 24 megajoules per kilogram. Coal is mainly used as a fuel to generate energy; the heat generated by coal combustion is used to turn water into high-pressure steam, which drives a turbine and generates electricity. Therefore, it has been used in various industries worldwide with China being the most consumer of coal.
