CALCIUM CARBONATE
Calcium carbonate is one of the abundant minerals on Earth that accounts for about 4% of the Earth’s minerals.
The remains of marine species that have settled to the bottom of a shallow sea make up the majority of calcium carbonate deposits. Crustaceans, algae, and coral, for example, consume calcium carbonate from the water and use it to build their skeletons and shells. When they die, their remains accumulate on seabeds as sedimentary deposits, which eventually transform into rock.
Due to the whiteness and opacity of carbonates, they have many applications in the following industries.
2) Plastics
3) Paper production
4) Pharmaceuticals
